CANADIAN SENIOR GAMES ASSOCIATION (CSGA)

KAMLOOPS, BC AUGUST 25TH-28TH, 2020

Hi Everyone

The 2020 Games are just a little less than six months away and registration is now officially open!

The Games offers opportunities for enrichment, fulfilment and improved quality of life provided by participation in a broad variety of athletic, recreational and social events. Although the very nature of the Games is to declare a winner, or winners, the aspect of winning is secondary to the social side related to reuniting with friends from Games past. www.kamloops55games.com

Eligibility

The opportunity for Nova Scotians to participate at the Senior Games in Kamloops is based on the following criteria: To have participated in the 2019 Nova Scotia 55+ Games in Antigonish. Then, in order of merit, Gold medal winners will be given first choice to go to the 2020 Games, followed by Silver medal winners second choice, Bronze medal winners third choice, those who participated in the 2019 Nova Scotia Games but did not medal fourth choice, and finally if our quota is still not full then open to any Nova Scotia resident to apply.

Registration Timelines

The opportunity for Nova Scotian’s to register for the 2020 Games is as follows:

March 2 – Registration opens for Gold Medal winners – in events where only one team per category is permitted i.e. Curling, it is important that teams register immediately.

March 23 – Registration opens for Gold and Silver Medal winners where 2 or more entries are permitted.

April 13 – Registration opens for Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal winners.

May 4 – At this time registration opens on a first come, first serve basis for any team or individual who participated in the 2019 Nova Scotia Games and/or any Nova Scotian to apply, depending on space available in any event until the deadline of May 22nd.

Medal winners are reminded that once the date of your timeline has passed and you have not returned your registration form complete with payment, your participation in a particular event is no longer guaranteed. Some events only permit two/three participants per province/territory. Once these spots are filled, they are filled.

Registration forms received with information missing in any of the Sections will be deemed incomplete.

NS Team Shirts

Nova Scotia team shirts will once again be offered in men’s and ladies’ cut and sizes at a cost of twenty-seven dollars ($27.00) payable along with the registration fee. It is a golf style shirt, blue with white trim and with the NS 55+ Games logo on the front left.

Accreditation

Upon arriving in Kamloops, you are required to register, whether you are a participant and/or non-participant. Accreditation will take place at McArthur Island Sport & Event Center, 1665 Island Park Drive. You must register individually and have your 2020 Canada 55+ Games Health Form along with any needed health documents with you. The health Form MUST be worn inside your name tag for the duration of the Games. You may register on Monday Aug 24, 2020 between 12 Noon – 9 PM or Tue Aug 25, 2020 between 9 AM – 3 PM.

Opening/Closing Ceremonies

Both, of these events will be held at the Tournament Capital Center Fieldhouse, 910 McGill Road, Tuesday, Aug 25, at 6 PM and Friday Aug 28, at 6 PM respectively. More to follow on these events.

Special Events

Jersey Party on the Diamond with the Serious Dogs

Wednesday, August 26th - Doors open at 6:30, event (concert) 7:30 - 9:30 - wrap up 10:00

Norbrock Stadium

Grab your favourite team jersey and join us at Norbrock Stadium to dance all night with the Serious Dogs. Take part in the sports activities, beer garden and 50/50.

Senior's Gone Wild with the Young'uns

Thursday, August 27th - Doors open at 6:30, event (concert) 7:30 - 9:30 - wrap up 10:00

BC Wildlife Park Event

Get wild at the BC Wildlife Park with the Young'uns. Dress in your best animal clothing, check out the animal enclosures and dance the night away with the Young'uns. Dine from your favourite food truck while enjoying a beverage in the beer garden. Take part in other activities and try your luck at the 50/50.

Transportation will be provided. A nominal fee will be charged (TBA).

Covid-19 Virus

Regarding this subject and possible concerns, the CSGA and the Kamloops Host Committee are and will be in ongoing discussions with the BC Health Authority and will be guided by their input. At the present time, there are no plans to cancel the Games in August.

Registration packages are to be returned only by mail and will only be accepted if signed and completed entirely, in order to have it processed. Completed packages along with payment (cheques are to be made payable to: Nova Scotia 55+ Games Society) are to be forwarded to Brian Richardson PO Box 1558, Lunenburg, NS B0J 2C0.

Deadline for all participants is May 22, 2020.
